What is a "human motion
educator"?
A "human motion educator" is a health professional who
uses the scientific principles governing human balance and motion
to assist individuals improve their body's structural organization
and move with greater proficiency.

Why should I see a "human motion educator"?
A human motion educator will assess your concerns according to their
knowledge and view of posture and movement of human form and function.
At OSG we will identify postural and movement characteristics resulting
from a compromised relationship with Gravity. We determine if they,
in fact, either cause or exaggerate your difficulties. We then employ
movement study, exercise and bodywork techniques to help you optimize
your health naturally.

and treatment, we consider the body an integrated whole rather than
a collection of isolated parts or symptoms. We use an educational
process in which experience, touch, motion, sensation, attention,
inquiry and exploration are powerful treatment modalities.

What specific problems
have you treated in the past?
OSG has treated many muscular-skeletal problems including fractures,
muscular strains and sprains, postural misalignment, joint replacements,
ligament and tendon tears, scoliosis, headaches, jaw pain, neck
pain, shoulder pain, lower back pain, and herniated spinal discs.
We have treated many on-the-job injuries including repetitive strain
injuries and carpal tunnel syndrome. We have treated individuals
injured in automobile accidents, including whiplash and broadside
impact injuries. We have worked with people with neurological problems
such as Parkinson¹s disease, multiple sclerosis and strokes.
Additionally, OSG has experience treating individuals with chronic
fatigue syndrome and breathing difficulties. Please call with any

How long will I be in treatment?
Situations vary. OSG has assisted clients to make dramatic changes
in a single session. We have also been with some individuals for
many years. Most likely, we will initiate a treatment plan with
a series of 3 6 sessions. This gives you an opportunity to assess
your progress and schedule future appointments accordingly.

How long do OSG's treatment sessions last?
Sessions can be 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 1 hour, 90 minutes, or 2
hours in length. Frequently, initial sessions last 90 minutes.

How often should I see you?
Often we begin treatment with a frequency of once or twice a week
depending on your needs. We will alter it according to your abilities
and progress.

What happens during a treatment
session?
We will use movement sequences to identify a goal and the most beneficial
treatment focus. We choose the treatment methods that will effect
the desired change, be it structural intervention, movement study
or exercise design. At the close of treatment, we assess your results.
You may be given a movement assignment and/or exercises to extend
the work of your treatment session.

What happens during the initial intake
session?
We will first discuss your physical history and your presenting
difficulties. We will assess your postural alignment relative to
your injury or problem. We will take "before" pictures
to assess your relationship with Gravity. We will evaluate your
movement characteristics and identify unproductive movement habits
as you walk. While you lay on a treatment table, we will evaluate
the restrictions within your muscles and skeletal system through
touch. We will discuss these findings and develop a treatment plan
suited to your particular needs and goals.

How will I know I am getting better?
There are many ways to identify improvements. Of course one hopes
that their pain will diminish. However, there are many indicators
of increasing health. Common signs include a sense of relief and
a release of restriction. Often one feels an improvement in balance,
strength and ease. Frequently these changes precede increases in
comfort.

Not usually. We want to be informed if for some reason you are uncomfortable.

Which exercises do you
recommend?
We teach exercises that mobilize the skeleton as well as tone and
stretch muscles. OSG teaches exercises that are simple, practical
and potent. They are designed to assist you to identify and sustain
an optimal relationship with Gravity.

Will I be given a home exercise program?
Most likely yes. At its simplest, your home program will be to attend
to the changes that developed in your treatment session and incorporate
them into your daily activities such as breathing, sitting and walking.
Additionally, you may be given activities to practice or exercises
that compliment the results of your session.

How long will my home exercise program take?
An exercise program need not take long. Many of our home exercise
programs take twenty minutes or less, yet are designed to accurately
address your goals.

What should I wear to my appointments?
Wear comfortable clothes that allow a full range of motion. For
the intake photograph during the first session, women may choose
to wear undergarments, bathing suit or leotard. Men may bring their
own gym shorts or wear one from OSG's selection.
